Well, it’s finally “show-time” for Frank Way. After many months of building, menu design, hiring staff, food ordering and preparation, frank food company’s grand opening was May 12. Located at 34 Lower River Road in West Cornwall, the town’s newest “gastropub” is just steps from the covered bridge.” We had the pleasure of sampling many items on the menu as they were getting ready this past week and were not disappointed. They are ready!
The menu may seem small in comparison with other more commercial establishments, but each item has been carefully selected and we found the preparation for each of our dishes delightful.
There are three individual pizzas that make for great shared appetizers and are hearty enough for a light dinner accompanied by one of their inspired salads. Three main courses are offered, including a grass-fed beef burger from Cornwall’s own Hulburt Farm, wildly popular wild codfish and chips and a sublime buttermilk brined roasted ½ chicken. Roasted asparagus join steak fries as sides and to be honest, we were too full to contemplate their amazing desserts, next time we will start with sweets and work our way back through the menu!
The restaurant itself is comfortable with a contemporary country ambiance. Tables are large and the space feels cozy yet roomy with attentive and friendly service. Inspired design touches abound, like beautiful water pitchers created by Jane Herold that adorn each table. There is a bar at one corner, with many seats beckoning those having a drink and snacks or even a full dinner.
Frank Way looked to create a space in West Cornwall for regulars to return often to eat well and drink with their friends while meeting new ones. We intend to be among them.
